Škoda Kodiaq for Weeks: Longer Car Rental in Prague

A Škoda Kodiaq is an excellent choice for several weeks, particularly when you need a single car for family use, business trips and weekend excursions. Ours is a 2.0 TDI diesel SUV with an automatic transmission and 4x4 drive, five seats, air conditioning and satellite navigation. With a longer rental, however, two things matter most: the mileage limit, which decreases as the rental period gets longer, and whether the car suits your day-to-day needs. We cover both below.

Who Is the Kodiaq For on a Multi-Week Rental

Renting an SUV for a longer period makes sense when you need a car for more than just a single trip:

  • Families staying temporarily – you are waiting for your own car to be delivered, relocating, or spending an extended stay in Prague.
  • Companies with a project – a assignment lasting several weeks, with several people travelling together with equipment.
  • Business trips around the Czech Republic and the EU – comfort on the motorway and built-in navigation save you time.
  • Winter season – you will appreciate 4x4 drive on poorer roads and when travelling to the mountains.

If you need a car for two months or longer, please also see our long-term rental, which is designed for such a period.

What the Kodiaq Is Like Day to Day

Practical impressions from a week of use usually come down to a few points:

  • Space – five seats and a large boot comfortably take a family's luggage or company equipment. If you require seven seats, there is the Kodiaq 7 seats.
  • Automatic transmission – it makes driving relaxed in city traffic and queues, and is less tiring on longer journeys.
  • 4x4 drive – it provides confidence on wet roads, snow or gravel tracks.
  • Size – this is a large car. In central Prague, please bear in mind that parking requires a larger space and a little more attention.
  • Navigation and air conditioning – both are included as standard, so you do not have to rely on your phone alone.

You will find a more detailed introduction to the car in our earlier article, Škoda Kodiaq for rent.

Fuel Consumption and Range in General

We do not state exact consumption figures, as these vary with driving style, load, the time of year and the mix of city and motorway driving. As a general guide:

  • The 2.0 TDI diesel engine tends to be more economical on longer routes and motorways than in the city with frequent stopping.
  • A full complement of passengers, luggage and winter conditions all increase consumption.
  • Calm, anticipatory driving and a steady motorway speed reduce it.
  • Please refuel before a longer journey and return the car with the agreed fuel level.

Mileage Limit on a Longer Rental

The daily rate is charged per 24 hours, and the daily mileage limit decreases as the rental period increases. For the Kodiaq 4x4, the following applies:

  • 1 day: 300 km/day
  • 2–5 days: 250 km/day
  • 6–14 days: 200 km/day
  • 15–29 days: 150 km/day
  • 30 days or more: 100 km/day

A practical example: for a three-week rental (15–29 days), the limit is calculated at 150 km for each day of the rental. If you know you will be driving long distances every day, please plan your mileage in advance and tell us when booking. If you regularly drive high mileage, operating leasing (from two months, with a mileage of 3,000 km per month) may be more suitable. For a general overview of the topic, see our article on car rental without a km limit.

Documents, Insurance and Travel Abroad

  • You need a valid driving licence, proof of identity and a minimum age of 21.
  • The deposit varies depending on the type of car; you will find the amount on the car's detail page.
  • All vehicles have compulsory third-party liability insurance and collision insurance; in the event of an accident, the client pays an excess depending on the type of insurance.
  • Travel abroad is permitted only by prior arrangement and only to EU countries; in such cases, assistance services are mandatory.
  • Delivery of the car within Prague is possible by arrangement by telephone or e-mail.

Further details can be found in the rental terms and conditions.
