An operating lease from two months with a 3,000 km monthly allowance is a good fit wherever you need a car for longer than a few weeks, but do not wish to commit for years or deal with a purchase. Typical customers are companies with a project, new employees, self-employed professionals waiting for their own vehicle, and people working in Prague temporarily. Arranging it is simple: choose a car, check that the monthly mileage suits you, and agree the terms with JJ Rent Car by phone, by e-mail or through a reservation.
What a "Short" Operating Lease Actually Means
A traditional lease ties you in for several years. With operating lease at JJ Rent Car, it is different: it starts from two months, and the fixed framework is a mileage of 3,000 km per month. You do not treat the car as an asset, but as a service that you use for exactly as long as you need it.
For comparison: with a standard rental, the daily mileage limit decreases as the rental period grows. From 30 days, it is 100 km per day for cars with stated limits, which gives roughly the same capacity over a month. However, if you know you will be driving regularly and a lot, it makes sense to plan around a monthly mileage allowance rather than daily limits. The main difference is that you plan the entire month at once and do not have to monitor each day separately.
Who It Is Right For
- Companies with a time-limited project. You need a car for several months, not permanently. When the project ends, you are not left with a vehicle that nobody uses.
- A new sales representative or an employee in a probationary period. You do not want to burden the company with a long contract before it is clear how the cooperation will work out.
- Self-employed professionals and small businesses. If you are weighing up buying against renting, a transitional period with an operating lease can be a sensible test of how much you actually drive.
- People in a transitional situation. You are waiting for a new car to be delivered, dealing with a lengthy repair, or relocating to Prague.
- Seasonal work. Your workload fluctuates, and a permanent vehicle would sit idle for most of the year.
When Something Else May Suit You Better
An operating lease is not a universal answer. Here are a few signs that another option may serve you better:
- You need a car for only a few days or weeks – a short-term rental from one day with a daily rate is a better choice.
- You regularly drive well over 3,000 km a month – it is best to discuss this option with us by phone in advance.
- You know you will need a car for several years – that is a different type of commitment, and it is wise to compare all the options.
You will find an overview of longer-term options on the long-term rental page. The topic is also covered in an earlier article about long-term car rental in Prague.
Which Car to Choose
Your choice depends mainly on how much you will drive and what you carry.
- Commuting and business trips with luggage or cargo: Škoda Octavia Combi with a 1.6 TDI engine and a large boot. It has a manual transmission, five seats and air conditioning.
- Longer journeys and comfort: Škoda Superb Combi with a 2.0 TDI engine, automatic transmission and satellite navigation.
- Mainly city and surrounding area: Škoda Enyaq iV. An electric car is an attractive choice if you have somewhere to charge it and your routes are predictable.
- Short city journeys: a smaller car, such as the Škoda Fabia, will be more practical for parking.
You will always find the specific parameters, equipment and deposit amount on the vehicle's detail page. You can browse the full range in our fleet.
