If your company is deciding whether to take an Octavia, a Superb or a Kodiaq for its employees, start with a simple calculation: how many kilometres you will actually drive during the rental, and what the daily limit is for that rental length. Only then consider comfort and size. The deciding factor is usually the nature of the work: how many people and how much cargo you carry, how often you drive on motorways, and whether you need 4x4.
First, Calculate Your Kilometres
The daily mileage limit decreases as the rental period gets longer. The same bands apply to the Octavia, the Superb and the standard Kodiaq:
- 1 day: 300 km/day
- 2–5 days: 250 km/day
- 6–14 days: 200 km/day
- 15–29 days: 150 km/day
- 30 or more days: 100 km/day
You obtain the limit for the whole rental by multiplying. Five days at 250 km is 1,250 km. Ten days at 200 km is 2,000 km. Three weeks (21 days) at 150 km is 3,150 km. For longer use, please see long-term rental or operating leasing from two months, where a mileage of 3,000 km per month applies.
Please include extra journeys in your calculation: a visit to a service centre, detours, weekend use. If you are approaching the limit, call us in advance and we will agree on a solution. Please also note that the daily rate is charged per 24 hours, so when planning the return, take the time of pick-up into account.
Octavia: When Mileage and Practicality Matter Most
Both the Škoda Octavia Combi and the Octavia sedan have a 1.6 TDI diesel engine and a manual gearbox. They are well suited to:
- a sales representative who visits clients across the regions and covers a lot of kilometres,
- a service technician with tools and boxes (the estate's boot is very practical),
- two to four colleagues on a one-day trip.
Please note that the Octavia has no built-in navigation, so a phone holder is useful. On long motorway journeys, the Superb is more comfortable.
Superb: When You Work and Travel in the Car
The Škoda Superb Combi has a 2.0 TDI engine, an automatic gearbox and navigation. The Superb Liftback has a 2.0 TSI engine, also with an automatic gearbox. It is a good choice if:
- you often drive long stretches and want to arrive rested,
- you are carrying a client or senior management and impressions matter,
- you need a large boot without moving up to an SUV.
The automatic gearbox makes city driving and queues on the Prague ring road easier. For drivers who cover long distances every day, it is a sensible extra. You will find more details about this car in the article Škoda Superb Combi for Rent.
Kodiaq: When You Need Height, Traction or 4x4
The Škoda Kodiaq is a 2.0 TDI with an automatic gearbox and 4x4 drive. It makes sense if your team:
- travels to building sites, quarries, field tracks or the mountains,
- needs confidence on snow and wet roads,
- carries larger equipment, samples or gear and prefers a higher seating position.
For larger groups, there is also a seven-seat Kodiaq. Please check its mileage limits on the car's detail page or by phone. Paying for 4x4 makes no sense if you only drive on tarmac; in that case the Superb is the more logical choice.
Three Example Scenarios
- A project team spending a week travelling around the Czech Republic: four days on the road, over two hundred kilometres a day. The 2–5 day band leaves room to spare, and an Octavia Combi with a boot big enough for equipment is sufficient and keeps the budget more flexible.
- A sales manager who drives clients: long routes, meetings straight after arrival. A Superb with an automatic gearbox and navigation makes sense here, because the driver does not have to worry about the route or changing gears.
- A field inspection in winter: field tracks, snow, heavier equipment. Here the Kodiaq 4x4 is a working tool, not a luxury.
Quick Decision Guide
- Lots of kilometres, 1–3 people, basic equipment: Octavia Combi.
- Long routes, a client on board, automatic gearbox and navigation: Superb Combi or Liftback.
- Rough terrain, winter, heavier cargo, 4x4: Kodiaq.
- More than four people: Kodiaq 7-seater or two cars.
If you are torn between two categories, consider a shorter trial rental and, based on your experience, move up to a larger car if necessary.
How to Arrange It
- Calculate your planned kilometres and the rental length.
- Choose the car according to the work, not prestige.
- Prepare your driving licence, proof of identity and company details; the minimum driver age is 21. You will find the deposit and conditions in the rental terms and on each car's detail page.
- If you need the car delivered in Prague, please arrange it by phone or e-mail via the contact page.
- Travel abroad is possible only by prior agreement and only to EU countries; assistance services are mandatory in that case.
All vehicles have compulsory third-party liability insurance and collision insurance. In the event of an accident, the client pays an excess depending on the type of insurance.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I exceed the mileage limit?
Please arrange it in advance. Call +420 703 149 146 or write to [email protected] and together we will find a solution that suits your route.
Is the Octavia also suitable for long-distance journeys?
Yes, it handles them well. However, if the driver spends hours on the motorway every day, or wants an automatic gearbox and navigation, the Superb will be more comfortable.
Does a company need a Kodiaq, or is a Superb enough?
The Kodiaq makes sense mainly for rough terrain, winter conditions or when 4x4 is essential. On tarmac, and for carrying people and luggage, a Superb is usually enough.
Can I rent a car for longer than a few days?
Yes. Short-term rental is available from one day, and long-term rental and operating leasing from two months.
